The Admiral’s Cup from Corum has a new addition to its ever growing family – the AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon. At first, when I looked at this watch, I thought “where is Corum going with these designs?” However, after spending a few minutes looking over it, I will admit that the watch has grown on me. Corum has put together a fine looking watch that features two of haute horlogerie’s finest complications.
This timepiece comes in two versions – Grade 5 titanium or 18kt 5N red gold. As the name suggests, the AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon measures in at 45mm for the case diameter. This size is normal for Admiral’s Cup watches. The Admiral’s Cup is easily recognizable due to its iconic 12 sided case. On the model featured, the case is finely brushed and it carries all of the Admiral’s Cup aesthetics that have made the model such a success, like the prominent, textured main crown with Corum’s Key logo, generous lugs, and exhibition case back made with sapphire crystal.
The dial features Corum’s signature black pomegranate motif and carries index hour markers and partially skeletonized hands, both coated with lume. The main dial shows off the double tourbillons at the 5 and 7 positions. Between 9 and 3 is located the retrograde date display, which is indicated using a red hand. Along the flange, Corum stamps this watch with the nautical pennants, paying tribute to the great race, the Admiral’s Cup.
This watch is powered by the hand wound mechanical movement caliber CO 1008. This manual movement features a 72 hour power reserve and it beats at 21,600 alternations per hour. The movement is well decorated with chamfered bridges and NAC galvanic treatment. Functionally, this movement also allows for the quick setting of the time by pushing in the main crown.
This timepiece from the Admiral’s Cup collection is water resistant to 300 meters or 30 bars. The watch is outfitted with a black crocodile leather strap with a triple folding clasp complementing the case material. Corum protects their watches with a two year guarantee.
